PESHAWAR, March 29: A committee formed to resolve a row of power supply has decided to restore electricity to 25 villages in Charsadda and Peshawar . A meeting of the body also decided on Wednesday that the price of power meters would be received in instalments and arrears should be written off.

The decision was part of a special package for people under the directives of Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani.

The meeting debated the long-standing issue and formulated various proposals for resolving it on a permanent basis that included separation of feeders for the domestic and industrial consumers as well as recovery of current bills as per meter reading.

The committee also exhorted Wapda and consumers to show some flexibility in their attitude and stance, as this was vital for the redressal of the issue.

The information minister, who is also convener of the committee, asked the Wapda management to restore the power supply in the defective villages soon.

He said it was the desire of the provincial government to provide all basic facilities of life to the dwellers of the defective areas by carrying out developmental activities there.
