LAHORE, March 28: Advocate M. D. Tahir on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to the Punjab government to call the army to implement the ban on kite flying and the manufacturing and the trade of the related material. Advocate Tahir submitted that seeking the help of the army was necessitated because the police had failed in discharging its statutory duty and implementing the apex court’s decision.
He contended that his request was based on Article 245(4) which provided for seeking army’s help when the administration failed in the discharge of duty.
He attached with the application various reports which stated the number of deaths and injuries because of the twine.
SC licences: The Pakistan Bar Council Enrolment Committee has recommended issuance of licences to 10 lawyers to practice at the Supreme Court.
The committee met here on Saturday with Justice Javed Iqbal in the chair. PBC member Mohammad Ramzan Chaudhry also attended. The member from Sindh, Rasheed A Razvi, was not present.
Mr Ramzan Chaudhry told Dawn that the committee had allowed Mohammad Aslam Zar, Asghar Ahmad Kharal, Sultan Mohammad Dar, Chaudhry Jamshed Husain, Rai Zameerul Hasan, Javed Bashir, Saeedullah Khan, Saeed Ahmad and Khwaja Tariq Suhail to practice law at the apex court.
