LAHORE, March 27: Development work on ‘Package-III’ at Phase-6, Defence Housing Authority, began on Monday. Breaking the earth, Corps Commander Lt-Gen Shafaatullah Shah said to further restore people’s confidence in DHA, it had been decided that all decisions would be taken at organisational level rather than at individual level. He said that the system had been totally revamped where he had delegated his powers to other members and the number of employees had been decreased to make the authority vibrant and efficient.
The corps commander, according to a press release, said that previous few years had been unproductive due to the crash of stock exchange, reduced interest rates, court of inquiry on an issue of mismanagement that contributed to land liquidity due to which the business suffered. He said that the inquiry had been completed and all those involved had been adequately penalised. “All shortcomings identified during the process have been removed to the satisfaction of members.”
In order to meet the future needs and to enhance the service delivery system, he said a future planning and a front desk operation cell had also been established.
Emphasising the importance of education, Shah said that the DHA had earmarked 60 acres of land free of cost for the establishment of university of science and technology. “The project will be financed by the government of Pakistan and will be completed by the end of 2008. It will bring an investment worth Rs 15 billion.”
Besides this project, Shah said the DHA had also planned to establish a campus of reputable foreign university on its premises. He said the establishment of a kindergarten school had always been his dream and in order to give it a practical shape a kindergarten institution with best possible facilities would be added to the DHA very soon.
