PESHAWAR, March 27: The leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Kohistan branch, have threatened that they would launch a protest campaign if immoral and unconstitutional action taken against their MPA, Maulana Dildar Ahmed, was not withdrawn.

Speaking at a joint news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Maulavi Rahimdad Khan, district secretary of JUI, Kohistan, Qari Abdullah Farooqi, member of JUI central executive council, Malik Aurangzeb Khan, former MNA from Kohistan and Malik Haider, former nazim TMA Kohistan said the JUI inquiry committee had made an arbitrary decision by implicating Maulana Dildar into the Senate elections scandal.

They said that the probe committee had authored a new history of falsehood and bankruptcy by announcing an immoral and un-Islamic decision against an honest MPA.

The committee had failed to make proper investigations in the light of statements occasionally issued by the chief minister and the JUI top leadership about the role of the JUI lawmakers during the Senate elections, they added.

They said that the four expelled MPAs were part of the Bannu panel who had been advised to vote to Qari Abdullah. The inquiry committee had grilled two women, one minority MPA and another MPA from Kohistan and made them scapegoat to cover-up the sins of the provincial government, they added.

They said they would conduct an inquiry into the issue and if Maulana Dildar was found guilty, they would punish him.
