ISLAMABAD: An anti- terrorism court (ATC) in the federal capital has granted post-arrest bail to PTI information secretary Raoof Hasan in the case of alleged terror financing.
Mr Hasan was booked in the case, along with PTI’s international media coordinator, Ahmed Waqas Janjua, last month.
In the FIR, Mr Janjua was accused of carrying explosive substances and a Kalashnikov.
Mr Hasan was produced before the ATC judge on Tuesday where his lawyer argued that their client was arrested on the basis of Mr Janjua’s statement.
The counsel insisted that the CTD had no other evidence against Mr Hasan.
Mr Hasan is a cancer survivor and heart patient and entitled to be released on bail, the lawyer argued.
The prosecution opposed the bail plea on the grounds that the principal accused in the case, Mr Janjua, has already been denied bail. On the prosecution’s plea, Mr Hasan’s counsel explained that allegations against their client were different from those levelled against Mr Janjua.
The judge then accepted the bail petition against Rs200,000 surety bonds.
