LAHORE, March 25: The Punjab government on Saturday notified the revised public transport fares for urban routes in view of increase in prices of POL products. The minimum fare for travel up to four kilometres has been kept unchanged at Rs6 but fare for travelling to longer distances raised. The number of fare stages is reduced from seven to five and fare for every stage is raised. The maximum fare is raised from Rs13 to Rs14.
Fare for four to eight kilometres travel is increased from Rs7 to Rs8, from 8.1 to 14 km (Rs8 to Rs10), from 14.1 to 22 km Rs12 by merging 14 to 18 and 18 to 22 kilometre stages for which the fares were previously charged at the rate of Rs9 and 10. For a travel of more than 22 kilometres, a commuter will have to pay Rs14 instead of Rs13. — Reporter
