MoU signed for research collaboration

SWABI, March 24: The Intel Malaysia and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding for research collaboration and internships for GIKI undergraduates.

The MoU was signed by Intel Malaysia’s Business Development and Operation Manager Kok Leong Lee and rector of the GIK Institute Dr Abdullah Sadiq here on Friday. Mr Lee and IT Solution Manager Jason Tay were on a three-day visit to the GIKI.

The company offered internship to GIKI students and research collaboration for undergraduate projects besides exploring the possibility of collaboration at other levels.

They agreed to investigate the possibility of allowing researchers at institute access to the company’s facilities in Malaysia. “At the moment (the company) is offering at least two internships to the GIK Institute in the field of computer engineering. Because of the limit of three months on undergraduate internships, (the institute) will investigate the possibility of sending graduate students for internship of longer duration ... (And the company) will propose final year projects which will be finalised in consultation with officials from (the institute’s) faculty of computer science and engineering.”
