TOBA TEK SINGH, March 23: The naib nazim of union council 12, Gojra tehsil, reportedly committed suicide on Thursday. Sarfraz Rahat Masih was a resident of Chak 424 JB Eisayan Wala and belonged to opposition group headed by MNA Amjad Warraich in the tehsil council. He had registered a case against tehsil nazim Asad Zaman Cheema on the charge of kidnapping him before by-election to naib nazim’s office two months ago.

He had attended budget meeting of the tehsil council on Wednesday and accompanied the opposition members when they had staged a boycott.

Sarfraz reportedly was present near Kabootran Wala graveyard before the arrival of Quetta-bound Chiltan Express and jumped before it as a result of which his body was cut into pieces.

A police source said a letter had been recovered from his pocket in which he cited the dispute between him and his brother as the reason for his suicide.

MARTYRS’ DAY: Police department observed Martyrs Day on Thursday for those who had sacrificed their lives in encounters.

Families of martyrs and the retired policemen also attended the function held at the District Police Lines.

Later, the DPO hosted a lunch for the participants.
