SWABI: The Swabi Action Committee (SAC) members warned to hold complete shutter down and wheel-jam strike in Swabi on Sunday in protest against both the federal and provincial governments’ failure to meet their demands.
The decision was taken in a gathering in Tehsil Chota Lahor city here on Thursday. They said all the entry and exit points and routes to the district would be blocked by the SAC activists on Sunday to stage an effective protest against prolonged power outages in the area.
All the speakers at the gathering said that they had complete support of public transporters, religious scholars, political and religious parties, jirga members, lawyer forums, farmer unions, students, Swabi Chamber of Commerce and industry; local government representatives; Gadoon Industrial Association; district and tehsil traders and others in organising massive protest campaigns against prolonged power cuts
Nadeem Shah Bacha, SAC president said that their main demands consist of complete eradication of menace of load-shedding; 300 free power units for every family, power tariff of Rs 3 per unit for domestic consumer and Rs 12 for the commercial consumers.
Salim Khan advocate, former provincial general secretary of Awami National Party (ANP), said that all markets across the district would remain closed and public’s struggle would continue unabated till achieving their charter of demands.
