Wapda awards contract

ISLAMABAD: The Wat­er and Power Devel­opment Authority (Wapda) on Thu­r­s­day awarded a Rs10.6 billion contract for civil and electro-mechanical works to a joint venture (JV) comprising two Chin­ese and a Pakistani firm for the rehabilitation of the Dargai Hydel Power Station.

A statement said the contract was signed here by Wapda’s General Manager (Hydel Development) Ihs­an Ullah and the JV’s authorised representative, Nabeel Tahir.

Wapda is carrying out rehabilitation and capacity enhancement of Dargai Hydel Power Station with financial support of AFD of France. According to the contract, Dargai Hydel Power Station will be rehabilitated in three years. On completion, the station will generate 22 MW of green and clean hydel electricity and provide 130 million units.
