LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday ordered installation of water meters in all housing societies and impounding of smoke-emitting vehicles.

During the weekly hearing of smog and environment related petitions, Justice Shahid Karim observed that smoke-emitting vehicles should not be allowed on the roads until they are mechanically fit.

The judge said tyre killers should be installed on service roads to discourage wrong-way driving.

He directed the Punjab Environment Department to present a progress report on the ban imposed on the use of plastic bags.
