LARKANA, March 19: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the culture of unionism in government departments is creating hindrance in the smooth running of government offices. The union leaders use it as a tool to gain undue benefits in different departments, specially in the education department, where the union culture is creating difficulties in studying process and damaging future generation.
He was talking to journalists in Nasirabad on Sunday where he attended the wedding of Hafiz Abdul Khalique Phulpoto.
He said that he disliked unionism in government departments, if there was a need to go for legislation or an ordinance to ban the union it would be done in the public interest.
Replying to a question, he ruled out any change in the Sindh cabinet and said that the government was working well.
He said rights of the people of Sindh would be protected at all costs.
He said that the member of the Land Utilization of the Board of Revenue, Sindh, had been asked to examine to how old villages could be regularized in Karachi.
He said that if any illegal encroachment had occurred it would be removed under the law.
He announced the up-gradation of rural health centre, Nasirabad into taluka hospital Nasirabad and inclusion of the development schemes of water-supply Nasirabad and Qambar towns in annual development programme (ADP).
He directed the irrigation authorities to take up the lining of Arther minor (irrigation channel) with the objective of providing irrigation water at the tail-end to benefit people of Nasirababd and surrounding areas.
Sukkur RPO Akbar Arain, Qambar-Shahdadkot DCO Mukhtiar Hussain Soomro, DPO Ahmed Yar Chohan and Sikandar Ali Jatoi, the chairman of the Zeal-Pak Industries, were present on the occasion.
Senator Abdul Gaffar Qureshi and other high officials accompanied the chief minister.
