Lawyers boycott courts

SAHIWAL, Oct 16: Lawyers observed a strike in major cities of the Punjab on Tuesday to protest against the bombing of Afghanistan.

In Sahiwal, lawyers boycotted the courts and held a rally on the call of the District Bar Association.

Speaking to the participants in the rally, Chaudhry Abdul Mateen and Iftikharul Haq said the government was extending all-out help to the US-led forces, killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan.

They said lawyers would observe hunger strike in Islamabad against the government policy on Afghanistan.

Lawyers also observed a strike in Chichawatani.

MULTAN: Lawyers boycotted court proceedings in all the districts and tehsils of south Punjab on the call of the LHCBA, Multan bench.

The Bar also condemned the ‘disgraceful’ policy adopted by the Musharraf government on the issue of cooperation with the US.

A press release of the Bar said the successful strike by traders on Monday and lawyers on Tuesday depicted that the official propaganda was false in saying that only a section of Pakistani society was agitating against the attack on Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the LHC (Multan bench) and the District Bar associations took out a joint procession to protest American atrocities in Afghanistan.

VEHARI: DBA members observed a complete strike and took out a procession to protest against US attack on Afghanistan.

Speaking to the protesters, DBA president Mirza Ejaz Baig and others expressed solidarity with the innocent people of Afghanistan.

Later, the lawyers dispersed peacefully.

BAHAWALPUR: Lawyers boycotted courts on Tuesday to condemn American attacks on Afghanistan.

The general body of the District Bar Association decided to meet on Wednesday to discuss further course of action.

OKARA: Lawyers did not appear in any of the cases listed for Tuesday to protest against the US attack on Afghanistan.
