Role of CID police lauded

PESHAWAR, March 18: Inspector General of Police NWFP Mohammad Raffat Pasha has said that CID police is playing an important role in combating terrorism and maintenance of law and order. The CID Jawans have always proved their mettle in difficult times and chal1enges against anti-state elements.

This he said, while addressing the participants of passing out parade of the 13th basic Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of CID police here at Hayatabad on Saturday.

Mr Pasha said that CID police was quite capable to face the challenges of terrorism and crush anti-state elements with full might.

He said that importance of this unit has increased manifold after the recent developments at national and international level that was why both federal and provincial governments were according top priority to strengthen and make it more effective against the anti-state elements.

The IGP also commended the role of CID police after the Oct 8 earthquake by providing security to the foreigners, rescue teams, rehabilitation of the affectees.

Seventy-six police Jawans took part in the five-month course from all over the province. Constable Qaisar Khan of Peshawar was declared best cadet of the course. In shooting Imran Ullah of Tank was adjudged first, Khurram Zeeshan of D.I. Khan second and Hamyun of Tank third while in physical fitness Sana-ul-Rahman of D.I.Khan got first, Mukhtar Khan of Peshawar second and Qaiser Khan of Peshawar third position.

Earlier AIG CID Captain (R) Ihsan Tufail in his welcome address highlighted aims and objectives of the course and the problems being face by the CID unit.—APP
