Bank manager robbed of Rs1.6m in Moro

SUKKUR, March 16: Armed men robbed the manager of the Moro branch of the Habib Bank of Rs1.6 million on Thursday.

Manager Mohammad Suleman Mangrio, along with cashier Shah Nawaz Tagar and gunman Allah Ubhayo Sahito, was carrying the cash to deposit it with the National Bank of Pakistan, when the armed robbers intercepted them in Moro town. They snatched the repeater gun from the gunman and the cash.

The manager said that the police reached half an hour late on the spot. However, no case was registered till filing the report.

HUNGER STRIKE CAMP: Provincial chief of the MMA and MNA Asadullah Bhutto has condemned the policies of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

He said that people were facing problems owing to the policies of the government and had to resort to hunger strikes for solution of their problems.

He was talking to journalists after visiting the hunger strike camp of growers belonging to Sobhodero taluka in front of the press club here on Thursday.

He expressed solidarity with the growers and assured them that he would take up their matter in the assemblies and senate with the help of MMA MPs.

The growers belonging to Sobhodero taluka of Khairpur district were observing indefinite hunger strike since March 7 against water shortage.
