SHIKARPUR, March 16: District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar has held teachers, parents and the policy makers responsible for declining education standards and said they failed to pay proper attention to the noble profession.
He was addressing the concluding session of a two-day debate held under the theme of “competition on modern education system” organized by the district education department at government girls high school here on Thursday.
Mr Mahar called upon the teachers and the parents to realize their obligations and cooperate with each other for upgrading the standard of education.
He said the district government will organize a seminar on education at provincial level in Shikarpur to discuss negative aspects and irregularities which made their way into the education sector and find out better ways and means for their elimination.
Among others, the DCO of Shikarpur, Khwaja Shafiq Ahmed, Syed Nadir Ali Shah, Nazim of UC Taib and Najaf Ali Kamario, the taluka nazim of Garhi Yasin also spoke on the occasion.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION: On the conclusion of the two-day debate, a prize distribution ceremony was also held. The district nazim gave away cash prizes and trophies to four categories of the position holder students belonging to secondary schools and colleges from six districts of upper Sindh. Vishal Kumar (Jacobabad), Nadeem (Shikarpur) and Zubair (Sukkur) secured first, second and third positions respectively from boys secondary school students side.
While from the girls secondary schools side, Abida (Ghotki), Shireen (Qambar) and Farzana (Sukkur) secured first, second and third positions respectively.
From the college side, Shoaib (Khairpur), Wajid Ali (Shikarpur) and Sikandar Ali (Dadu) won first, second and third positions in debate respectively.
From girls college students group, Nadia Napar (Shikarpur), Murk (Ghotki) and Sadia Iqbal (Jacobabad) secured first, second and third positions respectively.
The chief guest, Mohammad Arif Khan Mahar gave away the cash prize of Rs12000, Rs8000, and Rs5000 and the trophies to each of the first, second and third position holders respectively.
