FAISALABAD, March 16: Three-day centenary celebrations of the University of Agriculture ended on Thursday with colourful programmes and a flower exhibition.
Scientists from India and other countries attended the celebrations. They also visited the agricultural research stations and observed various developments in the field of research initiated by varsity scientists.
A mushaira was arranged which was attended by poets, including Anwar Masood, Zafar Iqbal, Dr Inamul Haq and Khalid.
A drama title ‘Lyallpur College’ was also staged by the Art Club of the university.
ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested on Thursday a proclaimed offender allegedly involved in about a dozen heinous crimes.
Police sources said the PO, Muhammad Ilyas, was wanted in kidnapping of a British national, Muhammad Irfan, for ransom, besides killing two persons by throwing them in front of a train; killing his real sister, kidnapping a UC nazim and killing two policemen and a revenue officer as a mercenary.
The gangster was also wanted by police of Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and some other districts. The gang he headed had been committing crimes for the last 10 years, the police claimed.
