KARACHI, March 16: A policeman was among three persons killed in different road accidents in the city on Thursday. Head-constable of traffic police Syed Sajjad Ali was knocked down by a coach when he signalled its driver to stop. The Muslim Coach hit and broke a traffic signal at the Awami Markaz as its driver tried to speed away after crushing the policeman on duty there.

The coach was intercepted by some motorcyclists who forced it to stop at a little distance from the scene of the accident on Sharea Faisal. The angry people set the vehicle alight but its driver managed to escape, police said.

The head-constable was taken to the JPMC where he was pronounced dead.

A young man, identified as Mohammad Sajid, 25, was killed by a hit-and-run vehicle near Cattle Colony, in the limits of Sukkan police station.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A man riding a motorcycle was crushed by a speeding lorry in Keamari area on Thursday.

Police said that the driver escaped from the scene leaving his vehicle behind. The victim was yet to be unidentified.

FOUND DEAD: A young man was found dead in Orangi Town on Wednesday night.

Police said that Mohammad Noman, 20, with head injuries inflicted with a blunt weapon on his head, was found lying dead in Sector 7-B of the town.

Police have detained one of his friends for interrogation.
