Series review; Sonic Prime Season 3

He is blue, he is superfast and he is a hedgehog, and in Netflix’s Sonic Prime Season 3, he is back. Sonic the Hedgehog might still be involved in a power struggle with Nine, an evil multiversal variant of his friend Tails, but he has a team on his side that helps him bring order into the shatter-verse.

The third season continues from where the previous season concluded and captures the attention of the viewers from the word go. After collecting all the crystals, Nine had turned rogue, destroying Sonic’s home of Green Hills.

In the very first episode, Shadow and Sonic take on the more powerful Nine, but soon realise that they might need help and thus turn to their friends. They recruit friends from different dimensions to counter the evil Nine, but their most difficult task was to have them gel together. The union of members from New Yoke City, Boscage Maze, No Place, and Eggman Council first results in a hilarious situation, but once they understand each other, they are unstoppable.

The way Amy and Shadow help protect Sonic is quite a revelation and is a lesson to young viewers of the selfless act by friends. Usually, Shadow and Amy are the follow-the-leader type, but in Season 3, they take decisions by themselves.

With all episodes having less than 30 minutes’ duration, we get short and sweet doses of Sonic Prime. The best thing that comes from Season 3 is the well-connected story.

With each episode, the team gels together but in the same duration, Nine also gets stronger.

Superb animation, art direction, and voices remind me of the game, as there is not much of a difference with the most played video game.

Sonic (voiced by Deven Mack) and his friends fight the robots in a manner reminiscent of the video game, while Knuckles (voiced by Adam Nurada) landing a punch to a Badnik’s face is a treat to watch.

An action-packed story, the stage is set in The Grim, where we see all the happenings.

We get heartfelt contact between good and evil, one-liners from the Eggmen, and mood-lifters from characters from different dimensions. Season 3 ended with the kind of definitive finality one would expect from a series finale, which is enjoyable by the entire family.
