PESHAWAR, March 10: The city police have arrested three alleged murderers man on the charge of killing senior lawyer Mohammad Amin Khattak and his brother Abdul Qayyum Khattak, said a press release here on Friday.
Barrister Khattak and his brother, a provincial leader of the Pakistan Muslim League, were killed on Ring Road near Rizwan Property Centre on Feb 19 when they were going to their home in Hayatabad township.
Capital City Police Officer Habibur Rehman had constituted a team which investigated the double murder and netted three persons.
The accused are Sulaiman alias Manki of Bara tehsil, and Jehanzeb and Javed of Sango village.
During interrogation, the accused confessed their crime and also disclosed names of their accomplices.
Police have launched a hunt for the other accused.
IGP COMMENDS: NWFP Inspector-General of Police Mohammad Raffat Pasha said that policemen who put their lives at risk while on duty were a precious asset of the force and all available resources would be utilized for their welfare and treatment, APP said.
This he said during his visit to Lady Reading Hospital where he enquired about the health of an injured LHC Murad Khan.
The IGP highly appreciated the professional commitment and courageous conduct of the jawan as he alone pursued fleeing dacoits before the untoward incident.
He directed the police high ups to ensure that the culprits responsible for this despicable act were brought to the book and punished at the earliest.
The IGP also requested the doctors to provide best medical treatment and facilities to the policeman.—Correspondent
