LONDON, Feb 3: A fifth Briton captured in Afghanistan is being held by US forces, who are detaining him in Kandahar.

The man is Jamal Udeen, 35, from Manchester, a Foreign Office spokeswoman said on Sunday.

The Sunday Times said Jamal, a website designer, was believed to have converted to Islam about eight years ago.

A second Briton, Ruhal Ahmed, 20, from Tipton in central England, is also being held in Kandahar.

Both are being held on suspicion of fighting for Taliban and Al Qaeda.—AFP
