RAHIM YAR KHAN, March 9: Construction of Sheikh Zayed Medical College will soon be started and completed expeditiously. This was said by Punjab Health Secretary Javaid Malik during his visit to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital here on Thursday.

He said shortage of nurses would be overcome through new appointments in rural areas. He said a CT scan and two dialysis machines would soon be provided to the hospital.

He said more teachers would be appointed to overcome shortage.

To a question about a separate ward for drug addicts, the secretary said a separate institution should be established with the suggestions of DCO and DPO for such patients and the health department would extend full cooperation for this purpose.

On this occasion, Sheikh Zayed Hospital and Medical Collage principal Dr Eice Muhammad Khan said there were 670 beds in the hospital, including 16 only for CCU. He said the hospital was facilitating about seven million people of the area.
