PCB’s inaugural Inter-College Ramazan T20 Cup starts tomorrow

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board’s first-ever Inter-College Ram­a­zan T20 Cup starts on Friday.

The event, being organised by the PCB in collaboration with its affiliated regional cricket associations, will feature teams from 30 colleges of the country. The matches in Lahore start on Friday while the games in Islamabad and Karachi commence from Saturday.

The tournament will see 10 teams participating in each city. These teams will be divided into two groups while the top team of each group will play the final. Each team will compete in four matches during the pool stage while a total of 21 matches will be held in each city.

The Islamabad leg of the event will be staged at the Misam Cricket Ground will continue till April 3 while the Lahore leg will be played at the LCCA Ground which will host the final on April 8.

The games of the Karachi leg will be held at the Eid Gah Ground, Nazimabad and IBA Karachi University Ground. The decider will be held at the Eid Gah Ground on April 4.

Each team will have a squad of 14 players plus three reserve players, along with three officials.

According to the rules, a player born on or after Sept 1, 2000, will be eligible to take part in the tournament. Moreover, to compete in the event a player must be a bona fide student of the respective college.

The winning team in every city will be awarded a cash prize of Rs500,000 while the runners-up in each city will earn Rs250,000.

The PCB selectors will be at the venues to monitor the players’ performance during the event.

Islamabad leg:

Group A: Bahria College, Zafar Camp E-8; Beaconhouse I-8, IMCB F-7/3; IMPCC H-8/4; Froebel’s

Group B: IMCB, Chakshahzad, West Minister; IMCB Degree College, Shihala; IMCB F-10/3, IMCB G-10/4

Lahore leg:

Group A: Punjab College; Superior College; Diyal Singh College, Gulberg College, Science College

Group B: Government College University; MAO College, Islamia College, Civil Lines; Government College Township and Shalimar College, Baghbanpura

Karachi leg:

Group A: Government Delhi College; Government College for Men; Happy Palace College; Beaconhouse School System; Government Jinnah College

Group B: Government National College; Government College, Asifabad; Government College, 36-B, Landhi-4; The City School; Government Pak Shipowners College
