Info minister Atta Tarar claims PTI ‘dead-set’ on ‘sabotaging’ IMF programme

Information Minister Atta Tarar has claimed that the PTI is “dead-set on sabotaging” the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, adding that the party should prioritise the country first and keep “politics” secondary to the welfare of the state.

He added the new prime minister has a vision and he said that everyone was willing to give their “blood and sweat” to get the economy moving, noting increasing the tax net, decreasing government expenditures, and restructuring the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were on the agenda.

He praised the newly elected finance minister, saying that he had a “complete command over economic affairs”.

Tarar also criticised people living abroad for protesting in front of the IMF building and asking for the institution to not give relief to Pakistan until jailed PTI leader is released, calling it a “heinous and despicable act”.

He criticised the protestors, adding that they had no right to protest as they “were paying taxes abroad and living on that money”.
