DERA GHAZI KHAN, March 7: Patrolling police foiled an attempt to smuggle Iranian petrol into Punjab by impounding two tankers at the tribal area border here on Tuesday.

Reports said Sakhi Sarwar patrol police halted the tankers (TKA 885, TTA 416) for routine checking and found them filled with smuggled petrol.

The police arrested the drivers Juma and Amir. No FIR of the incident was registered yet.

Sources say the Border Military Police and the Patrolling Police connive at facilitating smuggling of Iranian petrol on Dera-Quetta road.

It is alarming to note that the tankers reached Sakhi Sarwar post after crossing three main checkpoints manned by BMP personnel in the tribal area tehsil.
