The National Assembly session to elect the next prime minister of Pakistan has begun after an hour-long delay.

At the outset of the proceedings, former Balochistan chief minister Jam Kamal Khan was sworn in by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. During the oath-taking, PTI-backed lawmakers chanted slogans.
