ECP appoints 5 presiding officers for conduct of presidential elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan has appointed five presiding officers for the conduct of the presidential elections, state-run Radio Pakistan reports.

According to a statement issued by the electoral watchdog’s spokesperson, these officers will receive nomination papers from candidates and chair meetings of the Parliament and provincial assemblies.

The ECP said the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court will oversee the elections in the Senate and National Assembly in Islamabad while a member of the commission will supervise polling in the Punjab Assembly.

The chief justice of the Sindh High Court will supervise the presidential elections in the Sindh Assembly and the CJ of the Peshawar High Court will oversee polls in KP. A similar procedure will also be followed in Balochistan.
