HYDERABAD, Oct 16: The role of civil defence is very important during peace and war as it helps to save the public from crisis like war or bomb blasts.
This was stated by District Coordination Officers Hyderabad Mohammad Tariq Ayub while attending a briefing given by Ghulam Rasool Bhutto, additional controller, Civil Defence, Hyderabad, in Shahbaz Hall here on Monday.
The DCO stressed the need for the close liaison of Civil Defence department with the nation building departments for evolving civil defence measures and keeping fire extinguishers ready to meet any emergency.
He also directed to improve the training of civil defence, siren system and close contact with concerned authorities.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the department and the presentation.
Earlier Ghulam Rasool Bhutto said that the Civil Defence department provided training for bomb disposal and civil defence and had siren system to inform the public about any emergency.
The meeting was attended by officers of nation building departments and others.
SURPLUS STAFF: District Coordination Officer Hyderabad Muhammad Tariq Ayub here on Monday held a meeting regarding utilization/absorption of surplus staff.
The situation on sanctioned posts of staff, particulars of surplus staff and requirements were discussed in detail.
DCO Hyderabad directed that the matter should be finalized in a couple of days.
The executive district officers informed that notifications about administrative and financial powers were awaited while amendments in the efficiency and discipline and services rules had not been finalized yet.
The DCO informed that there was ban on transfers and postings of staff and only the orders issued by the government should be implemented.
He said that mutual transfers in the interest of the government would be allowed. He, however, warned that action would be taken against those who were indulging in transfers and posting.
Mr Ayub took serious notice of misbehaviour with female teachers by some youth in Oderolal and said that strict action would taken against such persons and security should be strictly maintained.
On the complaint of excess billing of electricity charges, the DCO assured that a meeting would be held with the chief executive of Hesco.
The meeting was attended by the executive district officers Shakeel Naqvi, Abdul Qadir Mangi, Shams Jafrani, Dr Qadir Bux Memon, and others.
