Bush to watch cricket

KARACHI, March 3: Senior Pakistani players have been asked to attend a children’s cricket match that US President George Bush will watch in Islamabad, an official said on Friday.

The match is being arranged on Saturday for President Bush, said Pakistan Cricket Board official Abbas Zaidi.

“We have been asked to send a couple of senior players who will go to Islamabad with board chairman Shaharyar Khan. We have just been told they have to attend the cricket match which is expected to be witnessed by President Bush,” Mr Zaidi told Reuters.

President Bush had expressed a desire to see a cricket match on his tour of South Asia, he said.

Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, vice captain Younis Khan and opener Salman Butt have been asked by the board to go to Islamabad for Saturday’s game, Mr Zaidi said.—Reuters
