Russian FM unaware of agreement

MOSCOW, March 3: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday he was unaware of an agreement on Iran’s suspect nuclear programme. “I have not heard of it. I presume it is possible but I do not want to speculate,” Mr Lavrov said.

A top Iranian official in Vienna had earlier said Tehran had agreed a compromise with Moscow after talks there earlier this week to resolve the nuc-

lear dispute.

He said the package met all the demands of the international community and had been put to European Union negotiators, and Iran was now awaiting a response.

Russia had earlier indicated the Moscow talks had produced no breakthrough, and Mr Lavrov reiterated that Iran must agree to suspend all uranium enrichment activities — something Tehran refuses to do. —AFP
