GILGIT, March 2: The Northern Areas education department has set up a separate education directorate for women in the Northern Areas with immediate effect in order to provide better education facilities and opportunities to women.

Official sources said that the former principal of the Elementary College Gilgit, Yasmeen Qayyum, has been appointed as the new director, Shahida Jabeen the deputy director and Shireen Jan, the assistant director, of the Women Directorate of Education along with 11 other staff.—Correspondent
