GUJRANWALA, March 1: As many as 42 prisoners involved in minor cases were released by Additional District and Sessions Judge Wamiq Javed during his visit to the central jail here on Wednesday.

Reports said the judge sought the list of prisoners involved in minor cases and ordered their immediate release.

He also inspected various barracks and kitchen and directed the authorities to follow the jail manual.

The jail superintendent and other senior officials accompanied him.

POLICE PERFORMANCE: The justice criminal and coordination committee at its meeting has expressed dissatisfaction over police performance and stressed to complete charge sheets in time and submit them in courts for speedy trial.

The meeting held here on Wednesday was presided over by District and Sessions Judge Mazher Husain Minhas.

SP Abdul Qayyum Qadir, district attorney Masood Ahmad Ghuman, jail superintendent Shaukat Feroze and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
