BAHAWALPUR: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the distribution of allotment orders of land to a resident in Cholistan at the divisional commissioner’s office late on Sunday.
He said that in the next few days, 26,000 eligible Cholistanis would receive allotment orders for land in Cholistan.
He said this day was historic for
the people of Cholistan, marking the fulfillment of the rights of poor Cholistanis from the three districts of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan after a delay of 45 years.
Mr Naqvi said the residents of Cholistan had been allotted land on lease for five years, with each applicant receiving 12.5 acres, contributing to their prosperity.
He acknowledged the delay in the allotment process since 1978 and highlighted that, following the land allocation, the entire Cholistan desert would be cultivated. Canal water would be supplied, enabling the allottees to cultivate the next crop on their allotted land.
In addition, the caretaker chief minister inaugurated the Bahawal Victoria Hospital’s (BVH) renovation project, which cost approximately Rs2.10 billion.
The project included the upgrade of the outpatient department, surgical facilities, and the renovation of wards.
Mr Naqvi claimed that the revamped building of BVH, established in 1906, now had an improved appearance. He instructed the principal of the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, nurses, and other staff members to ensure proper maintenance.
The handout said the caretaker chief minister inaugurated the safe city project, the model police station in civil lines, virtually opened other model police stations in Bahawalpur, and unveiled several roads, including those from Bahawalpur to Uch Sharif, Mari Qasim Shah to Dera Bakha, and Mandi Yazman to Chandi Chowk.
Mr Naqvi praised the police for their efforts to eliminate dacoits in the Katcha areas of Rahim Yar Khan and other regions.
He also provided three new armored personnel carrier vehicles to the Bahawalpur police as old APC vehicles are undergoing repairs.
Kashmir rallies: Several Kashmir rallies were organised on Monday by activists from Jamaat-i-Islami, district administration, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Bahawalpur Museum, police, and both private and public educational institutions. Similar rallies were also conducted in Lodhran and Vehari, demonstrating solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
NA-168: Independent candidate Syed Tabish Alwari has announced his withdrawal from the NA-168 contest.
He expressed concern about the current political situation, citing that voters are frightened and confused, which has obstructed candidates with clean character and records from pursuing a constitutional path.
He lamented the conviction of a major political party leader and the mud-slinging campaigns between others, contributing to the overall disillusionment.
