Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (r) Maqbool Baqar directed the administration to enforce a code of conduct and provide all necessary facilities to ensure free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections on Feb 8.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, the CM issued these directives during a meeting to review security arrangements for polls in the province.
He instructed the administration to carry out a mock exercise to ensure the foolproof retrieval of election material. This exercise must be carried out in the mock security of the police, Rangers and the army, APP reports.
During the meeting, which was attended by provincial heads and the police chief, CM Baqar was told that 16,704 policemen, 2,552 army personnel, and 133 Quick Response Force members would be deployed for the security of 2738 polling stations.
