Jamaat-i-Islami’s Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has said that if voted to power, his party would “fix” the country’s issues by taking the following steps:

  1. Small cabinet, reduction in non-developmental expenditure
  2. Ending free petrol, diesel, electricity and gas [for govt officials]
  3. Ending annual privileges worth 4,500 of the elite
  4. Reduction in defense budget, especially non-combat
  5. Privatisation of state-owned enterprises that continuously facelosses
  6. Reforming and restructuring the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)
  7. Repatriating money abroad
