Hesco plan to curb power theft

KHAIRPUR, Feb 28: District Nazim Syed Hussain Shah Jilani held a meeting with the executive engineer of Hesco, Khairpur, on Monday. The Hesco engineer told the meeting that the company had started installing meters for Rs250 under a special package to end the “kunda” system in the district.

In this connection, he said, separate teams, comprising the Hesco SDO and union council nazims of respective areas, had been formed at the taluka level. He sought cooperation of the district government in this regard.

The teams will be responsible to discuss and resolve the issue of detection bills and other problems of consumers. Luqman sub-division SDO Pervez Ahmad Phulpoto said that on instructions of the superintending engineer of Hesco, Sukkur, additional transformers would be installed at 25 sites in the sub-division before the start of summer.

He said that in case a transformer went out of order, the additional transformer would be used. The meeting decided to replace old electricity poles, especially in the Khairpur city, and relocate poles which were creating traffic problems.
