PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Justice retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah on Tuesday performed the commercial launch of Bannu economic zone.
A statement issued here said the launching ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s House and attended by provincial minister for industries Dr Aamir Abdullah, secretary industries Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, chief executive officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (EZDMC) Javed Khattak, its board members and other relevant officials.
The chief minister on the occasion also distributed allotment letters among the investors interested in investing in the economic zone.
Mr Shah was informed that the economic zone spread over an area of 415 acres would have a total of 265 small and large-scale industrial units and was likely to attract a massive investment of Rs10 billion.
He was further informed that the economic zone would also create about 16,000 direct and 48,000 indirect employment opportunities.
The chief minister was also briefed about the overall performance of EZDMC with special focus on the existing and upcoming economic zones in the province. He was informed that currently, a total of 14 economic zones were operational across the province having a cumulatively investment of Rs346 billion.
The CM said the newly-launched economic zone would prove to be a milestone in promoting sustainable economic development by paving the path of new industrial activities in the province.
