VEHARI, Feb 24: The sudden death of over 100 chickens at a poultry farm in Chak 7-WB has scared the people, who are wary of bird flu. Reports said a number of chickens died on Thursday night and the poultry farm employees threw these on road.
On receiving information, EDO (Health) Dr Pervez Haider made sure that the chickens had not been died owing to bird flu. However, he said, he had sent the samples for chemical examination at Rawalpindi laboratory.
District Officer (Livestock) Muhammad Siddiq said the death of bird might be caused by some other reason because the virus was not in Pakistan.
Poultry farm owner Rana Sagheer Ahmad said these birds died when he was shifting these to Danywal poultry farm.
Meanwhile, the EDO health constituted a committee under the supervision of DHQ medical superintendent Dr Ghazanfar Dharaa to investigate this incident.
