Turkiye welcomes South Africa’s ICJ application against Israel

Turkiye spokesperson Oncu Keceli has welcomed South Africa’s application to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel regarding the violation of obligations under the 1948 “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide”, Anadolu Agency reports.

“Israel’s massacre of more than 22,000 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, in Gaza for nearly three months cannot go unpunished, and those responsible must be held accountable before international law,” Keceli said in a post on his X account, adding that he hoped the process is completed as soon as possible.

The ICJ is expected to issue an interim injunction ordering Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza, he said. Keceli said that Türkiye will follow the implementation of this decision.
