LAHORE, Feb 24: A group of two 200 Hindu pilgrims arrived here on Friday to participate in a two-day Hindu festival of Mahashivrati to be held at Katas Raj, Chakwal, from Saturday (today).
Pilgrims belonging to various parts of India were received at Wagah by Evacuee Trust Property Board Additional Secretary Izharul Hassan and other senior officials.
According to Hindu mythology, festival of Mahashivrati is looked upon with great reverence and respect by devotees of Lord Shiva. On this day there was also supposed to have been the marriage of Lord Shiva with Adi Shakt” while devotees also observe fast on this day.
The pilgrims, who will return home on March 2 next, were extended banking, immigration and customs facilities at the joint Wagah checkpost.—APP
