Nazim Cup

ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: Sixty one teams are to compete in the District Nazim Cup being organised by the Rawalpindi District Cricket Association (RDCA).

Ashraf Qureshi, president of RDCA said on Thursday that the event which begins on Feb 28 will be played on a knockout basis because of the big number of teams involved.

It will take a month for the tournament to be completed with 57 matches to be contested.

The competition, the first under the new office-bearers of RDCA will see matches being played at several venues.

“We plan to organise more than seven tournaments this year besides courses for umpires and coaches,” said Qureshi, a former manager of the Pakistan team.

Meanwhile RDCA is also in the process of selecting its women’s squad for the PCB Inter-District Championship.
