SWAT: Khpal Kor Foundation, an orphanage in Mingora, has set up a basic health unit in Sherarai area to offer quality healthcare to the institution’s orphans and the local residents.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the BHU here the other day, Mohammad Ali, the foundation’s director, said a doctor and paramedical staff had been appointed to the health centre.

Malakand division commissioner Saqib Raza Aslam was the chief guest.

Mr Ali expressed his gratitude to the Sindh Medical College Pioneers Association, which would bear the staff’s expenses and supply medicines for the BHU. “The generous contribution demonstrates the association’s dedication to ensuring the success and sustainability of the health facility,” he said.

Chairman Sindh Medical College Pioneers Association Dr Waqar Qureshi, president Syed Mohsin Hydari, principal Saidu Medical College Prof Israrul Haq, district health officer Saleem Khan, medical superintendent Saidu Teaching Hospital Sharaft Ali, and others were also in attendance.

On the occasion, Raza Aslam commended the efforts of the foundation in providing the health facility to the people.

Commemorative souvenirs were presented to the guests on the occasion.

ARRESTED: The police claimed the other day to have arrested three transformer thieves.

Briefing reporters at Chapriyal police station of Matta, district police officer Shafiullah Gandapur said the police received information about a body of one Sher Zaman, a resident of Chupriyal, lying in the fields. He said the body was taken to hospital for postmortem. Later, he added an inquiry was launched to ascertain the cause of his death. During the preliminary investigation, he said a close friend of the deceased, Shujaat Ali, a resident of Tarey area, was interrogated, who disclosed that on the night of Dec 24 they were planning to steal a power transformer in Sher Palam area.

He told the police that Zaman got electrocuted when he climbed an electric pole, and his body was thrown near his house, the DPO said.

Mr Gandapur said Ali told the police that they retrieved valuable parts from the transformers after lowering them from poles and would sell them to shopkeepers.

Later, the DPO said the police arrested a shopkeeper and another person. He added on the identification of the arrested persons, the police recovered frames of nine transformers and other parts, power cable, three motorcycles and Rs30,000.
