READ: Inside UN school sheltering Palestinians with nowhere to go

The Israeli army ordered Palestinians in Al-Bureij and Al-Nuseirat refugee camps in central Gaza to evacuate, but many people had no place to go. Middle East Eye spoke to displaced people in a UN school which was turned into a shelter for thousands who refused to evacuate as they had nowhere else to go.

“We sought shelter in this school due to ruthless bombing. Our four-storey house was completely bombed, so we came here as we don’t have another shelter. We are living with 20 families in one classroom,” said Amira Ammom.

“There are elderly people, pregnant women, and infants. Where should we go with them? We don’t care about whatever the occupation will do,” she said.
