Gaza hospitals functioning on triple bed capacity: UN
The United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs in Gaza has said nine out of the 26 functioning hospitals in the Palestinian enclave were functioning on triple-bed capacity.
The medical facilities are grappling with no electricity and little fuel for generators, and confronting critical scarcities of supplies, the agency said in a daily situation report.
It further said that the lack of food, basic survival items, and poor hygiene is amplifying protection and mental health issues, and increasing the spread of disease.
“More than 360,000 cases of infectious diseases including acute respiratory infections, meningitis, jaundice, impetigo, and chickenpox, have been recorded in UNRWA shelters,” OCHA said.
