A Kremlin spokesperson says Russia will not participate in the multinational naval task force announced by the US with the aim of stopping attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, Al Jazeera reports.

“We are not taking part in the operation,” Dmitry Peskov said.

Ten countries are so far part of the naval alliance: Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
