SWABI, Feb 21: Pakistan and India should relax visa restrictions for students to enable them to participate in events and competitions in the two countries, a group of Indian students said before leaving for home from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute on Engineering Sciences and Technology.

The visitors had participated in the International Parliamentary Debates and won the English contest. They said both the countries shared their history and cooperation between their people would be very beneficial for them.

They said more teams from India had confirmed their participation in the debates but only three from New Delhi turned up due to continued demonstrations against blasphemous cartoons and visa difficulties.

They expressed the hope that the interaction would go on and it might help the two countries come closer for the peaceful settlement of all their outstanding disputes.

Rohan Trivedi, Ashish Nagar and Anirudh Jain from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, won the English debate contest.

The Urdu debate was won by King Edwards Medical College, Lahore. Momin Rauf from Froebels School was declared the best English speaker and Arsalan Ahmad of the King Edwards Medical College the best Urdu speaker.
