Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has told President Joe Biden in a phone call that the United States bears a historic responsibility to achieve a lasting ceasefire in the Gaza conflict as soon as possible, Reuters reports, citing Erdogan’s office.

His office reported him as saying that a ceasefire could be achieved quickly if the United States withdrew its unconditional support for Israel and that Israel’s prolonged attacks may have negative global consequences.
