Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour says Guterres’s decision to invoke Article 99 to force the Security Council to address the situation in Gaza “is the right thing to do”, Al Jazeera reports.

It was a “brave and courageous position” by the UN chief in taking this step, Mansour told reporters.

This indicates how “dangerous” things are in Gaza, he said.

“We sincerely hope that the UNSC adopts this [resolution],” Mansour told reporters, referring to a draft resolution that is expected to be discussed.
