LAHORE, Feb 19: Pakistan and Morocco will cooperate in the field of Islamic heritage through the identification and maintenance of manuscripts, exchange of information and expertise in acquainting people with patrimonial libraries. They will also exchange rare manuscripts.
An agreement in this regard was reached during Religious Affairs Minister Ejazul Haq’s recent visit to Morocco.
Moroccan Minister for Waqf and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Taufiq signed the agreement on behalf of his country.
According to official sources, the two countries will also exchange publications, magazines and Islamic studies and researches, and discuss the possibility of organising mutual exhibitions on the latest Islamic publications in both countries.
They will also exchange visits of Islamic scholars and participate in cultural and religious seminars.
The two countries shall take measures to arrange mutual training sessions on missionary activities and Islamic culture for Imams, preachers and religious instructors.
They will exchange expertise on the preparation of religious audio-visual programmes in both countries. In this regard, Morocco will invite Pakistani ulema and Quran reciters to take part in religious programmes of TV and radio.
The two countries will also exchange experience and expertise in the area of preserving Quran, including its printing, publication and distribution.
They will organise competitions on the memorisation, recitation and intonation of Quran.
Morocco will provide also a number of Islamic publications, studies and researches.
The two countries will encourage the exchange of expertise and studies on architecture, construction and engraving of mosques. In this regard, the two countries will exchange visits of specialists in these fields.
The two sides will exchange experience and expertise in the field of Waqf, including its management, administration, collection of revenues and the way of investing them.
They will also exchange information, methods and studies on Zakat. Pakistan will provide Morocco with its experience and expertise on the means of collecting and spending Zakat.
They will exchange experience on scanning and coping with anti-Islamic activities.
