The al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group based in Gaza, says it attacked Israeli cities and towns earlier this morning, Al Jazeera reports.

The attacks were in response to “the crimes of the Zionist enemy against our people this morning,” the group said on its Telegram channel.

The announcement came as sirens were heard in the southern city of Ashkelon after rockets were fired.
